Recent Tamil Movies

Watched "Chithiram Paesuthadi" and Kodambakkam recently. Liked both of them. Even though the hero's acting looked a bit unnatural to me in the first half of "Chithiram Paesuthadi", the second half was pretty good. I just couldn't guess the real reason for the lovers' separation, and when it was finally revelaed, it was totally unexpected. Made me feel for the hero.
Kodambakkam is also a decent effort. For some reason that I cannot adequately express in words, I like reading/watching the struggles of movie-makers. So much so, the first thing I read in every new Anandha Vikatan is Cheran's auto-biography. Having read Cheran's glowing account of a production manager's role in the making of a movie, I could totally relate to Ramesh Kanna's character (Puli Kumar). Even though Manivannan's innocence seemed a bit too contrived, that is the source for many a funny moment. I enjoyed this movie.
Waiting to watch Pattiyal. The reviews sound promising.
Wonder why there is a sudden spurt in new directors coming up with good movies. Hope the trend continues.
